Nice & Neat.

deskarea1.jpg
It took all weekend, but it’s done. Check it out! The area around my iMac is cleared off, the counter can actually be seen, and the printer looks like a printer and not just a huge heap of discarded assignments and junk mail! Still need to hang a shelf above the basket of stuff that needs to be sorted, but that’ll get done this week. I’m good with the whole area as it is now.

PS for Beate: I’m finally finished with Season 2 of the House DVDs you let me borrow. I am going to buy my own copies so you can have yours back!

stamparea.jpg
Our old butcherblock kitchen table was repurposed when we redid the floors in this room. It used to be in the center of the room, and an ancient refinished (lots of “re” here!) pie safe hugged this wall. It was really dark and really heavy, but it held a LOT of stuff, so I used it. Mike put up new storage and shelves as a Valentine gift. I think he was just tired of how dark the cupboard made the room. . . plus with the table in the center of the room, there was not much room left!

I love that the stuff I use most often is right in front of me, and other stuff is more easily accessable, too. All this work was worth it.

paperstuf.jpg

I have two of these paper sorter thingees from Office Max, and used to have both out in the open. I ended up putting the other one in the closet along with my 12×12 solid cardstock storage and other stuff. The bookshelf underneath has bins to house Cuttlebug dies, more tins, Xyron stuff, magazines, and just more stuff. Boxes at the top hold CDs and DVDs and more stuff.

cubes.jpg

Now these, these I love. We bought 11 of the storage cubes from Target, and spent Friday night and Saturday morning putting them together. I love that they are so clean and store so much! They replaced two big Iris carts and then some. I was able to pull a ton of stuff from the closet to store here. Now my 12×12 patterned paper is sorted and easily accessable. And now, I can see that I really *don’t* need to buy any more tins at the Target dollar spot. One cupboard is full of them, and there’s another box full in the closet!

chandiorama.jpg

Once the room was clean, we had to attack a project, naturally! Chan needed to do a book report of some sort, and chose to create a diorama. Can you tell which book he read? The dragon’s suspended over the shoe box. It’s a hinged box, and everything was situated so that it could fold up for transport. Vellum wings and stickles on the dragon’s wings, primas in the field. . . . Yep, it was a great weekend!
