Fun little project

Since the men were out “roughing it” this weekend, we girls had all of Saturday to ourselves. My mom joined us, as mentioned before, and we hit Stamp Antonio first. Adri’s always a hit there, as she chatters all through the store, talking to everyone about what she would do with the stamps on the shelves and in her little basket. She spends forever looking for just the right stamp, and this time picked out a sweet little fuzzy penguin chick as well as some Paper Salon stamps (and now that I’ve played with them a bit, I need more!). I ended up with quite a few other things, too. Paper Salon paper stack to match the stamps (Easter), some Making Memories clips, some flowery Foofala ribbon, some chipboard stuff. . . basically a lot of stuff, including a Bare Elements purse/box. Adri liked this one, and after Build a Bear, P.F. Chang’s, and pedicures, Nana left, and we got to playing with paper!

Here’s the finished product. We’re going to work on a set of cards for inside next.

The Bare Elements line is paperboard, and white when you get it. Super easy to cover with your choice of patterned paper. We chose bright and happy Scenic Route paper that we already had: Crosstide Lane and Lockwood Lane from the Laurel Collection, and Mod Podged it on. Once it was all adhered, I took a Red Magic Dew Drop and went over all the edges to add a bit of color. After that dried, I added a final coat of Mod Podge.

The chipboard flower is from one of the SU! packages, and it’s covered with the reverse of one of the patterned papers, also with Mod Podge. A flower cut out was Mod Podged on both sides and gently shaped, then adhered to the chipboard flower. A flower center was Mod Podged onto a chipboard circle, and then adhered to the layered flower. After adhering a funky pink rhinestone, I added Fruit Punch and Orange Stickles to the edges. The whole shebang was glued over the May Arts ribbon streamers with E6000. More May Arts ribbon was adhered to the bottom of the box.

Cute, fun project. How long did it take to finish it? Pride and Prejudice, a bag of Goldfish crackers, and two Dr. Peppers. . . haha!

Today was spent over at Katy’s beautiful showplace of a home in San Antonio. She had an impressive spread of snacks, the SWEETEST candy selection. We each brought a project over (I took no pictures – forgot the camera at home and wasn’t going back again after having to turn around for directions I’d printed), and had a great time stamping and getting to know one another. The BEST thing, though, was getting to see my bestest friend again. It had been much too long. Thanks, Katy, for having us!

What a fun day with Adri and your Mom! I still have to hit Stamp Antonio and a scrapbook store before I leave. It was soooo good to see you and Adri. We have to hang out some more before I leave, that’s for sure.

    That box looks awesome! HUGS
