Lots going on here lately. School’s out on Friday, so teacher gifts have been right on top of my to-do list. Here’s what the kids and I came up with and made.
I purchased the Papier-mâché letters from Hobby Lobby. Each of them got a coat of paint, and then I adhered patterned paper and embellished. I created a set of cards to coordinate with each letter and used the extra patterned paper for those. The quick and easy layout was personalized with “A Note from Mrs. ___” that I’d printed right onto the cardstock prior to scoring, cutting, and adhering the paper and embellishments. (I’ll list details at the end of this post.)
Here’s another quick gift (well, the packaging, anyway). My coworker of the past nine years’ last day is on Friday. She loves yellow and bees, so here’s the little quart-sized paint can I’m going to stuff with some paperclips, a pen, and a pretty Brighton clock for her new desk. I hope she like it and that she’ll “bee happy” at her new job. Corny? That’s me!

Altered R:
I painted the entire letter with Black Making Memories Paint. Adri chose the Sailmaker Lane patterned paper by Scenic Route. The black stars have what looks like chalkboard writing – letter, math problems, words . . . perfect for a classroom! I traced the R on the patterned paper, and cut it out once. We covered the front of the R, and adhered the paper with Scotch Tacky Adhesive. Edges were painted with a more black paint. Ribbon is from my stash (black stitched, probably from Michael’s) and May Arts (dotted organdy). The chipboard star is from Fancy Pants, and it’s covered in the reverse side of the Sailmaker Lane paper. The cards have a 1 1/2″ strip of patterned paper adhered to the front of Very Vanilla cardstock, and different ribbons tied to hide the edge. The cards with starred paper have red rick rack, and the ones with red starred paper have different black and white ribbons. All have Primas attached near the “A Note from” sentiment with black brads. The cards were cut down to 5 1/4″ x 4″ and adhered to quarter sheets of Basic Black cardstock. Love the way these turned out!
Altered A:
This letter was painted with an Adirondac Paint Dauber in Lettuce. Chan said that Mrs. A loves purple and flowers, and chose this Basic Grey flowered paper from the Oh Baby! Girl collection. I cut the letter out twice, and adhered to both sides with Scotch Tacky Adhesive. Edges were painted with more lettuce paint. Ribbon is from May Arts, and the flowers are (gasp!) three large Primas (paint can from Target) that are tied on. The cards are just regular sized Blush Blossom cards accented with the patterned paper. They were made as above, but with the same green ribbon and different Primas that were attached by tying them on.
Altered Paint Can:
I could have sworn I had one of the Stampendous pails, but I didn’t, and the ones I did have in my stash have pink or teal accents – so not right for what I wanted. This is an empty quart-sized can from Home Depot. The topper was stamped on Very Vanilla with Palette Noir, then watercolored. I adhered a Prima over the little flower with a glue dot, and added a K & Co. rhinestone. That was attached to the top with dimensionals.
The can itself was covered in Scenic Route River Walk patterned paper. I added gingham and the stamped bees that had been punched with Marvy punches and then watercolored. Stickles were added here and there, too. Easy and fun!

Both gifts are just fabulous! I’m quite taken with those big letters, but haven’t had the nerve to try one yet!
What wonderful gifts. I’ve been looking for those big letters but haven’t found any in my area stores 🙁 I’ll keep looking! I recently bought a couple of plastic popcorn containers (like the paper ones popcorn was served in at old movie theatres). I have some ideas for them but need to find the time to play with them! As always I love your projects. Thanks for being so inspiring.
