This week, I had another Envelope O’Fun in the mail . . . this time, from Lori Craig! It was stuffed with Anna Wight’s Whipper Snapper birds (Spring Bird and Nesting Bird on a Branch) stamped on Shimmery White, some pieces of glittery patterned paper, and a few sheets of Shimmery Ivory cardstock. She issued a friendly challenge to Beate, Sharon, and Angel to create something with the images and patterned paper. Check out what they came up with by clicking on their names. I quickly peeked when I went to add links. I love seeing what different people do with the same basic supplies!
I had a little bit of time to play during the Spurs game (my husband is so happy that they won!), and created these two cards. This was FUN!

I had a sheet of 12×12 Bazzill cardstock in Parakeet that I’d pulled out for another (never even started) project, and sliced it up to make two full-sized cards and a bitty one, too. I’ll share the bitty one later, if I remember to!
The first card is a regular, top folding card. I used a small corner rounder to scallop the bottom of both the front and back of the card, and then punched holes in each scallop with my Crop-a-Dile. I cut a rectangle of the provided patterned paper (sorry, no source. . . but isn’t it CUTE?), and then scalloped and punched that piece. It seemed lacking a bit, so I added white eyelets to each hole, and then tied on a bit of ribbon from my Fabric Barn purchase in So Cal. After coloring the image with Copic markers and watercolor crayons, I trimmed it so birdie parts hung outside the imaginary frame, and then mounted on Cool Caribbean cardstock, and added a couple of Primas with a Making Memories rhinestone brad. Everything was mounted with foam tape, and then I added some Stardust Stickles and a (unintentional) slightly askew sentiment from PaperTrey’s Little Lady set.
The second card is a matchbook fold. The bottom flap is an inch, maybe a little bigger? I didn’t measure, but it is 4 1/4″ wide, and I only cut off a little from the 12″ strip, so it’s easy to figure out. Scalloped and punched edges here were highlighted with a white gel pen. I stamped Rhonna Farrer flowers in Palette ink (can’t remember which green, from PaperTrey) on Marigold Morning cardstock, and then went in between some of the lines with the gel pen, and added swirls and dots of my own here and there. Ribbon from an old Making Memories ribbon card was adhered over this, and then the panel was attached to the card with Sticky Strip. I tied Turquoise grosgrain from SU! over the whole shebang.
The bird was punched with the big scalloped oval, and then I punched holes inside the scallops again, and adhered to a same-sized oval from Tempting Turquoise. This was watercolored (smooshed ink from pads + aquapainter), and then I added a Prima with a Queen & Co. brad, the Creative Imaginations rub-on (“LOVE you”) and put it all together with dimensionals.
Whew! It took longer to type that than it did to actually make the cards! Thanks, Lori, for a wonderful challenge. I really needed that, girl!

Wow…those are both gorgeous! I love the glitter accents on the first one. Both Prima flowers add such a nice touch.
Love all the scallops and the soothing, non purple colors on the second one. Freaking gorgeous.
CUTE Jenn….. love those faux eyelets!! Miss ya girl!
Oh, I love the scallops & eyelets (both real and faux!) on both cards (and the large flowers). Love all the glitter on the first one and how you matted the scallop oval w/holes on the 2nd one! Gorgeous, girl — great job with the challenge!
Wow…your cards are fabulous. The first card is so sparkly in the pic, it must be so glitzy IRL! I have got to try that scallop with the SU punch. I adore the matchbook card with your white gel pen addition. Super cute, Jen!
Jenn, I love ’em! The feathers off the matting is so cute…eye catching! Love your scallops and eyelets. I also adore card #2 with the orange and turquoise. So fresh!
These are just gorgeous Jenn! I love all the glittery touches on the first one and how there are bird parts that spill out a little. So clever! All those scallops just make the card!
