Flower

Fabulous!

That what three day weekends are! I cannot wait, but more on why later. Here’s my take on Beate’s sketch challenge for this weekend. I had this set and these colors out on my desk from a project I did for my mom the other night, so rather than think of another combination and actually get up to get cardstock, I worked with what I had.

Check out Beate’s sketch here, and more samples using the same sketch from Charmaine, Lori, and Sharon, too.  It’s so cool to see what everyone else does with the same starting point – I I had to laugh at how Lori and I both did the ribbon & same flower off the side thing for the same sketch. We didn’t even talk about that!

Everything but the super wide organdy ribbon is from SU!. I found that marvelous stuff at my favorite local packaging store and had to have it. It’s so soft, and was just what I needed here.

Stamps: Fabulous Flowers and that swirly jumbo wheel I never remember the name of

Ink: Elegant Eggplant, Basic Black, Rose Romance

Cardstock: Elegant Eggplant, Taken With Teal, Basic Black, Rose Romance, Very Vanilla

Accessories: Black brads, Black gingham, Dazzing Diamonds glitter, 1/8″ and 1/16″ hole punch, corner rounder to scallop circle, coluzzle, tons of Stampin’ Dimensionals

Enjoy the long weekend!

Personal blahblah follows

It’s been a rough week ’round these parts. I changed my work schedule a bit thanks to my procrastination (the kids used to do the YMCA afterschool program at their school, but when I went to sign them up there was only one slot. DOH! I have two kids!) . . . I talked to my brilliant neighbor about my predicament, and she said, “just put the kids on the bus!” I laughed at her! We live so close to the school, there is no bus! You have to take the kids or let them walk or bike. She laughed right back at me!<— That shows you what I know. Very little! There is a bus, and the stop is just a couple of doors down from our house. I just never saw the big yellow thing since it comes by at 7:05, and I used to leave for work at 7:30! What a dork!

Anyway, I talked to my boss, and he suggested I come in early and leave early. So. . . I’ve been waking up, and getting to work while it’s dark out. It’s taking some getting used to, this driving in the dark thing. I’m not a morning person, so I’m getting clothes ready the night before so I can just roll into them and be on my way. Lots of little changes make such a big change for our family, but oh man. . . is it ever great to be home and meet the bus, and enjoy the excitement of the day! I think next week will be much smoother and less cranky. At least I hope it will be!

Here’s a first day of school shot. You can tell Chan’s super happy to have his mom snapping pictures in front of EVERYONE. He woke up tired after playing two rounds of golf with Dad the day before. Not a good thing to do the day before school starts, especially when it’s HOT! Adri chose her outfit from the bottom up, adding “tall socks” because she thinks they are cool, even if noone else wears them. That made me super happy to hear!

Sending the kids off was a good thing. They were so ready to go back to school after meet the teacher night last week! This stunk, though . . . more evidence that my boy’s growing up:

Adri on the other hand. . .

“Hey, mom! Take a picture of this! Did you get me drawing my self portrait? What about me and my teacher? My desk! This is my first real desk!”

Love that excitement. Want to see it carry on all year long!

    Gorgeous card!
Your kids seemed to have really grown since spring. love the shot. I sure can relate to your story – same after school care (a decade+ earlier) only I sent in the renewals early – but my little one’s never made it to the office so his older bro was registered – he wasn’t. Happy that your boss let you change your schedule! It will get better. Maybe spaces will open up.
