Today’s tutorial is a little how-to on Paper Trees. I had much fun making these, and love the way they look in my foyer. My husband actually said, “Oh, WOW!” Huge compliment if you know him! I need to swap the cheesy silk holly for some fresh greenery this weekend (ah, the benefits of living with a nurseryman!) and put up the other trees I’ve been working on. . . but these have been up since late October. I love Christmas and can’t wait to put the new tree up this weekend!
The three trees were made with Figgy Pudding 12×12 paper. LOVE that stuff, need more! I’ve been using it for little boxes, cards, trees. . . it’s my favorite Basic Grey Christmas line yet!
Topiary is Silent Night punched with the new flower punch from SU!, then a Prima flower of the month (I used a *whole bottle*) and Peppermint punched with the Three For You flower punch. The paper petals were curled with a bone folder, then layered on the pin before sticking into the styrofoam balls. That was a LOT of punching.
Little tree is Kringle front and back of the paper in alternating layers. I cut those about 1/2″ x 3″ before curling with a bone folder.
Big tree is Tinsel, then Jolly, then Festive, then Glee.
Dowels were 12″ x 1/2″ diameter, and I went through two boxes of quilting pins. And quite a bit of the regular stick pins on the little tree before my fingers croaked from pushing in the pins. The moss is called “Reindeer Moss” and it’s soooo pretty. I found the pots, paint, dowels, and Styrofoam at Michael’s.
