Sometimes, you just need to make something different

You know how it is. It’s the middle of the evening, you’re a little frustrated and need to just . . . do something, something different? That’s how I felt last night. So, instead of making a card for Beate’s weekly sketch at the last minute like I usually do, I pulled out some blank canvases, paint, and Mod Podge and started to play. I chose colors that would work with the family portraits that Maile of Relish Photography took a few weeks ago.

Here’s what I started with. And here’s what I ended up with.

And yeah, once I got it outside and out of the cave that is my house this morning, I realized I’d chosen ribbon in a red that’s a *wee bit* too bright for the colors I used here. 🙂 That’s okay. My mom’s here, likes it and said, “Since it’s not perfect, I’ll take it home.” And I’m okay with that! She’s still not taking my poinsettia pin.

I trimmed a piece of patterned paper down to 8 1/2″ x 11″ and made a big B, then flipped it. I printed it out on the REVERSE side of the pattern I wanted, and hand cut. If that’s not clear, just ask, and I’ll snap a few pictures and post. I had originally wanted a chocolate brown B, but printed on the wrong side of the paper . . . so I have an extra here I can show.

Everything here is adhered with Mod Podge over the painted background. I followed a tutorial you’ll all see on SUNDAY morning on Splitcoaststampers. It’s a beauty by Kim Van Diepen and you won’t want to miss it!

You also won’t want to miss fabulous stuff from

Beate

Cami, Charmaine, Lori, Mary Jo, and Sharon! I can’t wait to get back from errands and see what they’ve created.

Laurie. . . we’re still thinking of you and Ali and your family!
