Back from vacation

My husband ran his first half marathon last fall, and in the package of stuff they hand you the day before the race, there was a little postcard advertising another event . . . the Rock n’ Roll Marathon in Seattle, Washington. He’d been wanting to run a full marathon, and figured, why not? So he signed up and started training, and we started planningย  a big family vacation.ย ย  Here we all are after he finished:

We went up to Seattle a couple days before the marathon and stayed several days after, and absolutely loved it! Here are a few shots from our trip.ย  If you’re a voyeur like me and like to look at other people’s pictures, there are more after the page break. ๐Ÿ™‚

In front of the bridge at Deception Pass on the way to the Ebersole Casa where we enjoyed a phenomenal clam bake outside.

Good friends, good food, good times! We loved it all!

This picture was taken at Ebey’s Landing on our last day on the island.ย  The next morning, we drove back to Seattle, and hopped on a ferry to Victoria, BC.

Here’s my family in front of our hotel, The Empress. Amazing view, right on the harbour.ย  We went whale watching, had fish and chips right on the dock,

butchartgardens.jpg

visited Butchart Gardens with Kim Teasdale and her family, and

familyvacation001.jpg

went back to The Empress for high tea. Such a fun experience. . . and when it got dark,

familyvacation003.jpg

it was out to the hotel grounds to celebrate Canada Day with fireworks.ย  We went back and headed to bed . . . had an early ferry back to Seattle the next day. There, we visited A Muse.

and it was so great to see Linda again and do a little shopping, too! The store is SO FUN!

While back in Seattle, we went to the Experience Music Project, had dinner with Pam Becker, a friend from Back In The Day, and then visited this place.

We spent the fourth of July with friends, and I got zippy in the way of good pics of Seattle fireworks.ย  It was an amazing trip – 11 days of cooler weather, lots of great experiences . . . we’re definitely going to be back there!

I took a ton of pictures, so thanks for indulging me and checking a few of them out. Back soon with some crafty stuff!

Okay, now I’m officially missing my real home state where I lived the first 58 years of my life. Great photos. We’re going in September and again in December for Christmas. Glad you had such a wonderful vacation.

Look at you! I love your scarf! I can’t believe how big your kids are getting too! My oldest is going to be a senior! He loves to run (runs 8 miles every morning and nite) and would love to do a marathon sometime. He’s in cross country and track, so trains in the summer too. Kudos to your husband as I know this takes LOTS of dedication!

Glad your trip went well…I think we have marathons ALL the time…so I am sure you can find an excuse to get the hubby to come back to our “rainy” city soon ๐Ÿ˜‰
