Friday means more sketch cards!
Posted by Jenn on April 25th, 2008
My neighbor came over the other day and asked about Copic markers, wondering if she really needed them. I stamped this image and started coloring and blahblahblahing about how everyone loves them for a reason (and by now, you’ve all heard a million of them, right?). And before I knew it, I had a completed image on the corner of my stamping table, and a neighbor who’s probably going to go pick up a few to play with before she makes a commitment (read: I’m sure she’s probably going to order a set pretty soon).

This week’s sketch was fun. . . another pretty standard layout. Lots of patterned paper thrown together, messy stitching (who needs that presser foot thingee, anyway?), fun colors. No glitter or sentiment (yet), but I really like the way this one’s headed. Check out what Beate, Cami, Charmaine, Laurie, Lori, Mary Jo, and Sharon have done - Friday’s always fun, checking out what they’ve created (and whoops - I don’t think I checked all of them last week! Gotta remedy that!).
I colored a few more poppy images, and made more just like this one (I did what Mish says - cut up a whole sheet of 12 x 12 into 4 x 4 squares for card layers). And several other cards I’ll share in the next day or two. I know. Me. Using my stuff. And stamping. Crazy.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. The kids are off this Friday (today for you; I’m writing this Thursday night!), and will be hanging out with me at work for a bit, then who knows what the day will bring. Hopefully Mexican food for dinner! It’s Fiesta week, and I’m not cookin’!

Love BOTH cards! Your coloring on the first one is truly inspiring. I’m still practicing with my Copics. I also like what you did with the ribbon on the top card. That’s really cute!

Please, please tell how you tied your ribbon on the second card…how did you get it to line up so perfectly? THanks!

These cards are so pretty, Jenn, especially the completed one. And I’m bettin’ you used that super cool new Threading Water Fiskars punch of yours — that I still can’t find anywhere — didn’t you?!…hope it wasn’t just to torture me! lol. I really like that background paper you stamped the poppy on for the first (unfinished) card — it almost looks like you used watercolors to make it yourself. Lookin’ forward to seeing the completed card.

Beautiful cards! Love how you did the ribbon wrap-around and button on that first one, and the wonky stitching is great, must try that! And cut up the whole sheet of 12×12 at once?! Well, I’ll take it under advisement…

Wow!! Two cards!!! I always have “good intentions” of making more cards with the patterned paper I cut into…but now I have a tote full of “scraps”! LOL! I love how you gave this stamp a different feel in these two cards…and your coloring is just beautiful!! Have a wonderful weekend!
